Introducing the NSMC Class of 2024

We are excited to introduce the 10th NSMC internship class, the class of 2024. This group of 24 will join the 185 graduates of the program since 2015. Our class comprises of 24 individuals from across the globe. Learn their names and follow them because they will be producing the visual abstracts, journal clubs, blog posts, tweetorials, and podcasts! These are also the future leaders of nephrology.

Manish Lalwani

India

I'm Manish Lalwani, an Assistant Professor at Christian Medical College, Vellore, with a fellowship in Interventional Nephrology from Seoul St. Mary Hospital. I'm passionate about nephrology, particularly glomerular issues, interventional nephrology, green nephrology, and preventive nephrology. Beyond my medical pursuits, I find joy in learning and playing chess.

I’m a fourth-year medical student at LECOM in Pennsylvania and applying for Internal Medicine Residency. My interest in nephrology is fueled by both clinical exposure and personal passion. I am Dr. Kavita Vishwakarma, Nephrologist and Renal transplant physician practising in Mumbai, India. I am a strong advocate of gender equity in healthcare. Mother to a five year old and a fur baby, I love writing and singing, currently training in Indian classical music. I also love working out and never miss a day of training. My philosophy of living is through mindfulness, kindness and compassion.

I am a third-year internal medicine resident in Chicago who will be starting nephrology fellowship at Boston University in July. I aspire to become a transplant nephrologist. I wish to employ social media to gain & spread knowledge and NSMC internship is the best way to learn how to do that. I am excited to meet many friends and mentors from around the world through this internship. I love cooking South Indian food and watching fantasy TV shows.

I am a kidney transplant fellow at the University of Toronto. I am a passionate nephrologist, a loving mother and wife. My dream is to make kidney transplantation affordable by working to increase deceased donor transplantation rates in my home country, India. I love travelling, teaching and cooking.

I’m Dr Shreshta Tripathi, 2nd year Nephrology fellow at Bombay Hospital, Mumbai with keen interest in Transplant medicine, glomerular diseases and onconephology. Besides medicine, I love spending time with family, travelling, writing and watching movies.

My name is Anant Pilawan. I am currently working as Assistant Professor, Nephrology at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. I completed my Nephrology training from same institute. I was faculty at All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Govt. Medical College, Nagpur, India from 2016 to 2021. The major area of my research studies has centered around kidney transplant and glomerular diseases. I also focus on glomerular diseases associated with tropical infections.

I am quite excited to be a part of NSMC internship this year which I think is a great platform to interact with and learn from the eminent Nephrology community. Personally I love animals. As an Associate Professor at Lucknow's King George's Medical University and a GlomCon Fellow, I am passionate about nephrology. As a member of the "Core Curriculum Committee," I participate in several academic activities. My research interests include "pregnancy-associated acute kidney injury." I believe that learning is a two-way, continuous process, like the flow of a river. I am receptive to novel learning methods. Also, as a mother of two young kids, they are my pride and solace. Sports, long drives, and visiting a new place every year are some of my favourite things to do.
